Here in Austin, we’re so fortunate to have long stretches of mild weather that are perfect for outdoor weddings. As a wedding photography and videography team, we’ve worked on dozens of gorgeous outdoor weddings over the years and have found some truly incredible garden-inspired venues. If you’re dreaming of a romantic wedding day tucked away in a lush, secret garden, you’re in the right place. Keep reading for five of our favorite Austin wedding venues that offer the perfect blend of natural beauty and timeless charm.
The Grand Lady is one of our most-documented wedding venues in Austin, and honestly, we’d move in if they’d let us. This venue has it all, from a second-story bridal suite with a balcony and iconic bathroom to multiple ceremony location options. Every corner of this space is designed to wow! The private garden is straight out of a movie – I heard they planted nine million tulips for the Wicked movie, and I’m pretty sure The Grand Lady did the same. It’s also the perfect place for a first look and private vows away from the rest of your wedding party. The mansion has a stunning vintage aesthetic, while the reception space has a modern minimalist look. No matter your style, there’s something here to fall in love with.
And for couples who want to simplify the planning process, The Grand Lady makes it even easier with their in-house floral services straight from their own garden. They always do a beautiful job, and it’s one less thing to worry about during the planning process. We also love that the venue offers great indoor and outdoor photo locations. Even if the weather isn’t the best, you can still have the wedding photos of your dreams.
One of our absolute favorite wedding venues is Woodbine Mansion in Round Rock. The design and aesthetic of the space are incredible, and each space is multi-functional. It’s no surprise that this venue was so well executed, as it was created and owned by Pearl Events, one of the most popular wedding planners in Austin.
If you’re looking for a venue that will guarantee gorgeous photos, Woodbine is the perfect spot. Every room is perfection, and every angle is iconic. Each room has its own vibe, from the more feminine and floral prep areas to the more masculine and deep-toned dressing rooms. Even lighting was taken into consideration! Like the moody ambiance of the library to the refreshing lightness of the green room. The entire mansion is a photographer’s dream, and we see that guests feel just as enchanted when exploring the space!
One thing to note about Woodbine is that the reception tent is not permanent. This means that you’ll want to consider the added cost of renting one before you book. Of course, there’s always the option for a gorgeous al fresco reception. But if you prefer protection from the elements, you’ll want to keep this in mind. Additionally, it’s important to note that the iconic wisteria that grows on the trellis at the venue is seasonal. If you’re looking forward to these gorgeous purple blooms, check with the venue before choosing your date!
A feature that we really love about this venue is the quaint Airbnb right across the street from the mansion. It’s ideal for a honeymoon suite or perfect if you’re bringing your pet to the wedding. And if you’re not familiar with the neighborhood, definitely check out the nearby downtown strip of Round Rock! There are some great options for after-party drinks and live music for your guests to enjoy.
Barr Mansion feels like a storybook secret garden. When guests arrive, they follow the path from the parking lot to the mansion, where they’re enveloped by greenery. The mansion itself feels vintage, while the rest of the property is a whimsical garden of magnolias, oaks, stained glass, and sunlight. The primary reception hall is unlike any other, with massive windows and greenery growing along the wooden beams, giving the space a greenhouse-like aesthetic.
Our favorite thing about Barr Mansion is the diversity of ways to plan your event. With multiple ceremony and reception space options, you can mix and match to create a day that works for your vision and guest count. We also love that the mansion itself can be used as a space for guests to take a break from dancing, with lounge areas or other social activities.
Although the mansion makes a great “getting ready” photo location, couples are limited in the actual time they can get ready on site. Due to this, we recommend couples get ready elsewhere and just use the mansion as a staging space for final touches and photos.
Hummingbird House is a hidden oasis in the heart of South Austin. This lush garden property was originally home to a horticulturist but has been a family-operated venue since 2009. With its beautiful gardens and fully tented reception space, Hummingbird House gives a whole new meaning to “backyard weddings.” The home itself serves as a cozy space for the wedding party to get ready, while the outdoor spaces offer a variety of options for a cocktail hour and ceremony.
One of the best parts about working at Humminbird House is working alongside its incredible team. While we usually recommend that our couples hire a full-service wedding planner, Daniel at Hummingbird House is one of the few venue coordinators we can trust to handle the day. We highly recommend this venue for spring and fall weddings to fully enjoy the outdoor spaces without relying on the tent.
Laguna Gloria is a stunning, French-inspired venue for couples who are looking for elegance mixed with a garden feel. Imagine a French villa with manicured lawns, sculptural fountains, and a river view, located right in central Austin. The space transports your guests to a different time, creating an incredible escape reminiscent of a Jane Austen novel.
While Laguna Gloria’s event space is rather intimate, the property itself is sprawling. We love the many photography opportunities around the gardens. We also appreciate the fantastic hidden areas away from the commotion, where couples can have private moments like a first look.
Something unique about this space is that events at Laguna Gloria are made to function entirely outdoors. This is perfect for anyone who dreams of an elegant al fresco dining experience. However, because of this, we do recommend that couples only book this venue during ideal weather months. Additionally, clients cannot enter the space until 3 pm, so it’s important to consider that when creating your wedding timeline.
Here at Carhart Photography, we absolutely love the garden wedding aesthetic. There’s nothing dreamier than being surrounded by flowers and feeling tucked away in your own little world. We adore working at all five of these wedding venues. If you’re planning a garden wedding in Austin, we’d love to be a part of your big day! Head over to our contact page to get in touch.
